I arrived in Rome August 30 at around 2pm. It was a very long trip but exciting as well. We were picked up by the USAC staff (Simone, Francesca, Luissa) at the airport and took a hour and a half bus ride to Viterbo. We arrived at our hotel and got ready for our first real Italian dinner at 7pm. Stefano, the head of the program, took us to an old church that is now a restaurant (ristorante) and there were two long tables set for us. We met some "Italian buddies" (who are BEAUTIFULViterbo.) at dinner and we were able to talk with them and learn about life in Viterbo.

The view of Italy from the plane. I took it because it looks like the boot but it really isn't.
Dinner was AMAZING! Our antipasta (appetizer) was bruschetta and the tomatoes on it were delicious! Then the pizza came out. We had three different kinds, first was mozzarella and tomato sauce (yum!), second olive oil, salami, and mozzarella (yum!), and the third which was my favorite, olive oil and zucchini (yum yum)!! For dessert we were served chocolate and vanilla gelato. It was mouth watering. Of course I have had chocolate and vanilla in America but it taste soooo different here. The flavors in everything are rich and you can taste each one separately. I'm going to have to do a lot of active things or else the pounds on me are going to add up.
